Current Semester: Fall 2022

Graduation Semester: Spring 2023

I always felt that my college journey was a strange one. I originally wanted to go to school for Event Management but didn’t get accepted to my dream college which caused me to think college wasn’t meant for me. Only for a last minute, “don’t give up just yet,” effort caused me to change my career path, a film class at my community college was canceled but I was offered an in-house broadcasting internship instead. It was here where I fell in love with radio and television broadcasting, but also saw that I had a talent when it came to telling a story and setting a scene. I got my Associate’s in Science (AS) Degree in Television and Broadcast Production but felt there was still so much to learn. Next thing I know, I’m at The University of Tampa. It was at UT that more doors and possibilities opened for me. My Producing Motion Pictures class with Professor Stuart Fail, was really informative and brought the realization that I didn’t 100% lose my dream of becoming an Event Manager. It was just planning movies now. My various Screenwriting classes with Professor Fail and Professor Aaron Walker, showed me that I love creating worlds and showing stories with characters of my own to explore. It was my Digital Media class with Professor Santiago Echeverry, which led me to realize my talent in coding and other multimedia tools and led me to add a Digital Media Minor.

My strengths come from the classes that I found best supported me. I have developed into a strong screenwriter and continue to grow in that area. I love writing and find myself constantly writing scenes that pop up in my mind that need to be released onto Final Draft. When it comes to producing, producing has brought the passion of event planning back into my life and allows me to achieve the dream I once had. I feel that I am very organized and excel in Microsoft 365. I am a strong and creative coder, although it doesn’t completely come easy to me, I find the work tedious, yet fun, but mostly rewarding.

Since my focus has not been directly behind the camera, the roles of Director and Cinematographer are my weak points. Although I have done all my own projects in my production classes, I feel that they could have been shot better to further improve the results. My weak points may cause minor set backs, but I plan to push through them by being open to learn and experience the roles more.

Amanda Browne employee at the Walt Disney Company, is what my LinkedIn profile will say one day in the future. Although I’m not exactly sure in what way specifically, I feel confident in myself because of my Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), my minor in Digital Media and the FMX program that I am capable of so much. My main focus upon graduation is to get a job creating media for a company’s social media platforms.
