DESCRIPTION: I grew up loving Goosebumps and read every single one until I was finally old enough for Fear Street. To this day, I still return to those books with a wonderous mind. For my first photoshop project we were supposed to use Midjourney to create some images, but I went a step further and made a mock Goosebumps book. I imagined a girl who gets sent to a summer camp for queer kids, there she meets a friend who she finds out is a werewolf. The two girls then fight for their lives as the dark secrets of the summer camp come to life. A modern twist on a classic goosebumps conundrum.

DESCRIPTION: This is compromised of about 10 different images that I generated, edited, cut and collaged together to create one cohesive piece. I was inspired by the amazing style of Pulp Art especially the science fiction brance which created a lot of opportunities for strong female characters in bikini clad outfits. Knowing that provided a big stepping stone for sci-fi women now, no longer bikini clad thank goodness, I didn’t want to write off the importance of where it all started. And specifically to the revolutionary Barbarella herself.

DESCRIPTION: Growing up in the south, and inspired by the album Preachers Daughter by Ethel Cain. Girl Cow is paying homeage to an idea of the gothic south that has a duality to her. A mysterious beautiful place, but also stuck in its ways. Using lyrics from “Sun Bleached Flies” and actual billboards that exist within the tri-state area of Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana this all came together in a wonderful way. Using a two headed mockup of a cow I also wanted to touch on the exploitation of young girls, as the poem “The Two Headed Cow” talks about how a child is exploited for their differences.
