Anjali (Ange) Wood is a Senior at the University of Tampa, graduating in May 2020. She is double majoring in New Media Production with a concentration in Art as well as Advertising and Public Relations with a concentration in Creative Advertising. She is originally from Central New Jersey (yes it exists), and came down to Florida to pursue her passions in art, design, creativity, storytelling, and of course, for the warmer weather. As a bi-ethnic woman she has always been interested in traveling and how people express their cultures in different ways. This prompted her to study abroad where she lived in Florence, Italy for six months. She traveled all throughout Europe, which helped her to learn, live, and, grow in new environments. Her experiences shape the work she does today. All of Ange’s works are available online at www.anjaliwood.myportfolio.com.

STATEMENT

I grew up in central New Jersey, an area with lots of farmland, thirty minutes from the Jersey shore, and two hours from the Appalachian Mountains. I say this because all these places have a significant effect on the way I am. My surroundings have given me a love for the outdoors, the beach, hiking in the mountains, skiing, snowboarding, working out, making healthy choices, and just being active in general. Because of this I am heavily inspired by nature. I am also from an area that happens to be 45 minutes from New York City, which gave me tangible, big city dreams for my future. Through the creativity, originality, and design found in the New York combined with the purity and freedom found in nature, I found a balance for my senior project, studies, career choice, and well-being.

From a young age, I was a lover of reading, listening to music, going to concerts, watching movies and TV, and doing practically anything that fueled my imagination. I wanted to join this world of creation and imagination desperately. This brought me to studying creative advertising and sub sequentially new media production. This combination gave me the tools to use pictures, words, videos, design, and, multimedia to tell stories through art. I want to tell the stories of different companies through, branding, advertising, and new media.

My biggest influences by far have been my parents who work in the print world, my dad is in print sales, and my mother is a print buyer. While it doesn’t sound too exciting, I learned they both work with different parts of the creative world, with colors, typography, and different types of media that it is printed on. This showed me just a small piece of the professional field and all it has to offer. Not only career wise but in life, they’ve inspired me to be a person that makes the right choices, to be kind, to be a hard worker, and an over achiever.

For my senior project, I am using all my interests to create a cohesive advertising campaign for The Tampa Bay Markets, a local organization that oversees seven Fresh Markets in the Tampa Bay Area. This combines my love for being outdoors, in the community, with creativity in advertising.
