Knowing that it was the end of the semester and no rules were applied in creating the film, I decided to do something comical and crazy. My friend and I bought a puppet for a previous music video, and I fell in love. I knew this puppet needed to be a part of my film, so that is precisely what I did. I chose to create a short in which a girl has a drug-induced dream where a puppet is haunting her. After the girl pops the drugs, she falls asleep, and the colors in the film turn bright red as she wakes up and sees the demonic puppet everywhere. The slow fade into insanity is accompanied by many overlays and sound effects that worsen over time. This piece was the most chaotic one I have ever created, but I do not regret one second of it. I made everyone who watched it laugh hysterically and brought joy to the end of the semester, which is precisely what I had planned to do.

0:00-1:15
TITLE: Wanderlust
ROLE: Director, Cinematographer, Editor
MEDIA: Experimental Short
SOFTWARE: Adobe Premiere Pro
CAMERA: Blackmagic 4k Pocket Pro
SPECIFICATIONS: 1920×1080, H.264
DURATION: 3’05”
CLASS: FMX 314 Experimental Production
PROFESSOR: Dana Plays
TERM: SP 22
INSTITUTION: University of Tampa
LINK: https://youtu.be/2A9ZizxUBo4
DESCRIPTION: Wanderlust was a piece in which I began experimenting with overlays, opacity, and other mindbending effects in Premiere Pro that altered my original footage giving it a new and unique sense of style. The idea for this film was to create a sense of wonder, so I filmed a friend stuck inside as they dreamed of a grander life outside in the open wilderness. This piece meant a lot to me because it centered on my feelings of being stuck at home in isolation during the pandemic and the dreams I believed were put on a standstill at the time of lockdown. I’ve always enjoyed nature and traveling, especially during the sunset and nighttime hours, which I focused on in this piece as a source of calm and joy. I decided not to use music for the film but instead sound effects of nature and the world around me as I felt it brought more centering to the theme of the piece. The overlaying editing effects bring a dichotomy to the life of someone stuck inside with the yearning to get out.

0:09-0:54
TITLE: Car Fun
ROLE: Director, Cinematographer, Actor, Editor
MEDIA: Experimental Edit
SOFTWARE: Adobe Premiere Pro
CAMERA: Canon 80D
SPECIFICATIONS: 1920×1080, H.264
DURATION: 2’41”
CLASS: FMX 313 Documentary Production
PROFESSOR: Zack Powell
TERM: SP 21
INSTITUTION: University of Tampa
LINK: https://youtu.be/rL_pibZi-Ug
DESCRIPTION: An experimental piece of fast-paced editing to the music as I explore the different aspects of my car in detail. Every clip in the film is edited directly to the beat with various angles and speeds integrated for a stylistic approach. I created this piece because I had just finished cleaning up and decorating my first car and wanted to show off its features. I got inspired to create a car-like commercial from my clips without using any dialogue to make the feeling more abstract. To create this by myself, I set up a tripod for the scenes I was in and used a blanket to adjust focus, cutting around the parts where I was getting everything situated for the shot. I needed many more clips than I had planned and ended up slowing down some of my editing paces to make the piece more seamless. I enjoyed this piece, and creating it as one of my first pieces back from the pandemic shutdown allowed me to wind down and do something fun and simple for my film.

0:00-0:48
TITLE: Hit List
ROLE: Cinematographer, Editor
MEDIA: Experimental Short
SOFTWARE: Adobe After Effects
CAMERA: Canon T5
SPECIFICATIONS: 1920×1080, H.264
DURATION: 0’48”
CLASS: FMX 241 Sound, Image, and Motion
PROFESSOR: Gregg Perkins
TERM: FA 19
INSTITUTION: University of Tampa
LINK: https://youtu.be/FcsQyjJfbJs
DESCRIPTION: A hit list has appeared, and everyone is on it. Who hired the assassin, and who is next on the hit list? A behind-the-scenes operation is unfolding, and the investigation is starting up. Will we ever find out? This experimental piece is one of my first steps in creating an experimental video that makes people think about an outcome that isn’t entirely clear. I wanted to create this piece to expand my editing skills, cause people to question the purpose of my work, as well as interpret their meaning from it. This film was also one of my first times using Adobe After Effects as editing software. While it was hard to stray from Premiere and learn something completely new, I had an exciting time finding different ways to add unique elements to my piece that I could not do in other software programs. I kept the film short to focus on adding many layers to my film on top of each other while also messing with many green screens and opacity settings. I was able to use some of my old narrative-style clips and create a new experimental meaning for them which I thoroughly enjoyed.

0:50-1:56TITLE: MadnessROLE: Director, Cinematographer, EditorMEDIA: Experimental ShortSOFTWARE: Adobe Premiere ProCAMERA: Blackmagic 4k Pocket ProSPECIFICATIONS: 1920×1080, H.264DURATION: 3’04”CLASS: FMX 314 Experimental… Read more EXPERIMENTAL

["post-68","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
