As a cinematographer I have\ndiscovered that I was unwilling to violate the conventions for shot\ncomposition. My main motivation is to visually convey a story through camera\nand lighting, and my fearfulness of experimental cinematography inhibited me\nfrom telling a complete story. I overcame this fear and utilized the experimentation\nto help me reach my full potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I believe my biggest strength as a\ncinematographer is the planning tools that I employ for every shoot I am a part\nof. A long time ago I learned on my own that most mistakes can be avoided by making\ndecisions several weeks prior, and this realization has dramatically improved\nset efficiency, while still capturing an image I am proud of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Most of the things that I learned\nin university were through trial and error. I discovered that the errors I made\nthroughout all my classes has shaped me into becoming a better cinematographer\nthan I was prior. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
My major provides the opportunity\nto get experience through my own experiments. That experience could provide the\nopportunities for a job in the film advertisement industry, or a role on a\nlarge film set. From there I can work to become a cinematographer for feature\nlength films, fulfilling my career goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
