For my first documentary, I wanted to create something more experimental and more engaging with the audience. Me and my other co-director decided to talk about the issue of climate change, but with a twist. We used a polar bear costume to bring a bit of comedy factor into it, with interviews and B-roll using this polar bear character. This made our interviews such a joy to record, and shooting B-roll was effortless as our polar bear character was great at improvising. At the end, we wanted to juxtaposition the comedy with a very serious message to drive home the issue, which was a big editing job to create an old 80’s style training video to talk about the harmful power plant. While this was my first documentary, I’m very proud of the final product and can’t wait to do more.
