DESCRIPTION: For this assignment, we were tasked with creating a vector image by tracing another piece of art. As a fan of the Star Wars film series, I decided to recreate a movie poster for The Empire Strikes Back (1980). This project posed a challenge of being very precise with the fine details of the various jagged edges and the distant city inside of Boba Fett’s helmet.

DESCRIPTION: For the calligram assignment, we were tasked with recreating an image using calligraphy. I chose to use song lyrics as my text, that being a few lines from the song “When Will My Life Begin?” from the film Tangled (2010). The lyrics recount Rapunzel’s disatisfaction with her monotonous life and she lists off her daily tasks, one of which includes reading books. With this in mind, I chose to model my calligram off a stock image of a woman with a book on her face and colored the text in a similar color palette comparable to that of Rapunzel herself.
