DESCRIPTION: For my final I chose to do a documentary on college students with celiac disease. I had two interviewees from two different colleges give me their narrative on what it was like having celiac disease on campus and what sort of challenges they faced having this strict dietary condition. I hope through sharing their personal narratives on this sheds light on the importance of accommodation and fostering an inclusive campus environment for all students.

DESCRIPTION: The goal of my observational was to show an area of my subjects life as authentically as possible while still achieving aesthetic. To achieve this I followed my subject, Beau, through the ordinary activity of grocery shopping. I liked relying on the footage itself to tell the story, and keeping it interesting by incorporating unconventional techniques to get certain shots. One instance of that was the low-angle tracking shot i obtaiend by playing the camera on top of stacked items in the shopping cart. The diverse approaches to angles and framing I employed allowed me to see details about my subject that might have otherwise gone unnoticed, such as their preferences in specific foods or how long they spend in the toilet paper aisle.

DESCRIPTION: For the interview project, I took the opportunity to practice my interviewing skills for my final documentary. I crafted a draft of questions to delve into my interviewee’s experiences and worked on actively listening to their stories. I learned about the importance of asking open ended questions that encouraged interviewees to elaborate as well as refined my interviewing technique and approaches for my final project.

DESCRIPTION: This is an assembly cut of my mini-documentary project. We initially aimed to create an informative piece about recycling locations across our campus. I did part of the research for this project and also wore different hats during filming, either boom or camera operating. However, during filming, my group and I encountered the challenge of finding the recycling bins on campus, which caused an unexpected turn in our project. We decided to incorporate our new information into the documentary and took the opportunity to interview a member of the environmental society at UT. She gave us her insights and perspectives on the importance of recycling and highlighted
