DESCRIPTION: In this collaborative project, we aimed to capture the essence of candy, and to incorporate it into fashion. I partnered with a fashion merchandising student who selected the outfits and provided the concept art inspiration. During the photoshoot I took the chance to experiment with various poses for the model that would align with the aesthetic, wanting to recreate something reminiscent to what i’ve seen in magazine editorials. I was very happy that the outcome was a polished yet colorful image, after the edit in photoshop.

DESCRIPTION: For this project I got the chance to work with a professional model to get the illusion of her floating in mid air. She kept her poise while balancing on the stool while I took her picture and she deserves credit for maintaining the challenging pose. However, my removal of the stool in the post process really brought it together to have her look fully suspended in mid air.

DESCRIPTION: While experimenting with various props, a perfectly centered bubble emerged in front of my friend’s face which created the perfect portrait of her. I got to capture the moment before the bubble popped and it remains one of my favorite pieces.

DESCRIPTION: This is a photo right before dusk, taken from the vantage point of a moving boat. Capturing the streaks of shadow and light caused by the smokey haze rising from the water with the silhouette of Venice’s rooftops was a tricky balance between exposure, shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. Very much a lesson in photography for moving objects.

DESCRIPTION: This a photo of a very narrow waterway somewhere in the intricate network of Venice’s canals. The image shows the city’s ancient infrastructure, contrasted against the bright green hues of the water, potentially caused from increased waterborne traffic and untreated sewage discharge. While this image is more tourist-centric, this was part of a larger project focused on portraying the authentic lives of venetian locals, few of which still remain. Being an extended stay visitor I was grappling with the balance between capturing and taking in the city’s beauty and being a responsible and respectful human being.

DESCRIPTION: The craftsmanship of doors in Europe is on another level of artistry, therefore I took many pictures of doors, and I stumbled upon this one in Thessaloniki. It’s weathered surface of vibrant colors was very mesmerizing to me. The layers of paint peeking through show the passing of time that this door has witnessed and it’s still kept it’s charm throughout the years!

DESCRIPTION:I took this picture from the lofty heights of milan’s duomo after a short, hour wait time. It seems like the statue is gazing onto the bustling and frenetic metropolis, from it’s serene perch on the duomo’s roof. While Milan has gone through many transformations and embraced the forces of commercialization, it has also retained it’s ancient heritage. I think this image encapsulates the city’s duality.

DESCRIPTION: This photo is a result of experimenting with perspective and the Duomo’s architectural splendor. The choice of black and white was to enhance the dramatic shadows and contrasts in the carved stone, as well as the painstakingly intricate details of the spires.
