DESCRIPTION: This is the first Act for my story, War of Dragons. At the age of 8, I created an imaginary universe full of anthropomorphic dragons and over the years added to the story. Act 1 introduces the characters, villains, and the main conflict between the Raddmoses Kingdom and The Confederate Union. In Act I, Iyon, the main character learns about his elemental powers at the age of fourteen. Iyon meets a time-travelling dragon named Kyros. The main villains plan an attack on the Raddmoses Kingdom. The Raddmoses prince visits Iyon’s home world and during the prince’s visit, Iyon saves the prince from a Confederate Union terriorist attack. Then Iyon travels to the capital planet of the Raddmoses Kingdom to study his elemental powers. I am using Writer Duet to create the script for Act 1. Screenwriting Development has helped me with scope specifically what to include and not include in the script. At first, I included a lot of detail and I learned that too much detail can be confusing and lose the audience. I learned how to reduce the scope and keep it simple and improved in my screenwriting skills. I learned how to receive feedback through the weekly workshops.

DESCRIPTION: Dragon Wings is the first script I created. As a freshman, the idea of writing a script was a bit intimidating because this was all new to me. I used the feedback from peer review workshops to learn and improve my screenwriting skills. Dragon Wings is about a young dragon named Alder that learns to fly. I knew I wanted to write a story about dragons and create a simple elementary school-level story. Alder lives with his mother and father (Tila and Kell) and his siblings (Mira, Jade, and Tobalt). Alder struggled with learning how to fly and eventually learns how to fly with the help of his father and friends. I created Dragon Wings in Writer Duet. I like Writer Duet because the software automatically formatted your script. Each week we were required to have 2-3 pages completed for the peer review workshops. Each week I would incorporate the feedback into my script. I found the peer review workshops helpful because I learned how to provide feedback and receive feedback; ultimately improving my screenwriting skills. The requirement to have 2-3 pages each week helped motivate me and helped me stay on task.
