DESCRIPTION:   The Figure was my final project for Narrative Production. As an individual diagnosed with ADHD, I wanted to highlight the challenges faced by people diagnosed with ADHD. The Figure showcases the manifestation of fears and worries of an individual with ADHD. James, a college student struggles with writing because of ADHD. James is tormented by a figure throughout the night and eventually defeats the figure. In the film, I played both James and The Figure due to time constraints that I experienced recovering from an illness. I incorporated tight framing and dark lighting to create a horror-type genre. I felt the film was successful as a horror-type genre and highlighted the challenges individuals with ADHD experience. I learned how to improvise and change direction due to time constraints. Narrative Production helped me learn how to tell stories better.

DESCRIPTION:   For this project, we were required to work with different camera angles. I chose to film a pumpkin because it was a spherical object that I could film around easily. In addition, I was able to play with lighting because the pumpkin lit up. For the different angles, I chose to film shots of the pumpkin looking out the window, and shots from the side and the back of the pumpkin. For a more interesting angle, I chose to incorporate an extreme close up of the pumpkin beginning from behind the pumpkin and move towards the front of its face. I found this project exciting and fun. I learned how to use different camera angles to tell a story, make a story interesting, and less repetitive.

DESCRIPTION:   For this project, we were required to play with lighting to tell a story. I chose to film myself at night, sitting next to a window, in the dark playing video games using the television as my direct light. I set up the camera so that frame was a head shot of myself. I wear glasses and I wanted to see the reflection of the television on my glasses. I chose to have the window blinds open so that the outside lights were visible in the shot. I enjoyed the lighting assignment it was fun to experiment with indirect lighting. I learned how to incorporate darker lighting and indirect lighting into a film.

DESCRIPTION: The Stairwell was my third film I made my freshman year and final project for Sound, Image & Motion. I thought it would be interesting to create a film using the SCP-087 infinite stairwell as a backdrop. The story has the SCP foundation conducting experiments on the infinite stairwell. The experiment takes D-class subjects and sends them down the stairwell. The goal of the experiment is to observe the anomalies encountered by the D-class subjects sent down the stairwell. I used my dorm’s hallway and staircase for the film. I used Z6 voice recorder and recorded the actor’s lines before filming. When filming, I used tight framing for the shots to showcase the trapped feeling for the D-class subject. I incorporated non-diegetic sound from a SCP video game for the background music. For the stairwell scenes, I filmed during the day and to make the stairwell dark, I adjusted the camera lens to let in less light making the scenes appear darker. This project was my first time directing actors. I feel this film was one of my best films. I really enjoyed creating this film. It was fun to organize and film. The project gave me a glimpse into working on a production set and continued to build my confidence in using professional camera equipment.
