When beginning something new, nobody is immediately an expert or perfect at it. Along the way, there will be people or things to guide you on your journey to help you learn. In this project, I knew I wanted a dance to be involved. Through the process of thinking thoroughly about that story I wanted to convey and the help of Mads Waterman and Lucas Esteves, we are able to show the message of it is okay to not be perfect and it is okay to stumble sometimes along the way. The dance is a message of learning from others. The dancer Mads starts out as a projection and comes into the real world due to Lucas’s newfound confidence in his abilities.

With anything in life you are going to make mistakes. You are going to not understand or not know how to do something at first. Instead of letting yourself get down about, you try and try again until you get it right. The dance conveys that it is okay to look to others for guidance in order to do your best. Even if you are more confident in your abilities and you are getting the hang of it, in life it is still okay to make mistakes along the way as long as you keep on pushing through. That is what the dance and the projection represents.

Everyone has nightmares or has felt like running from something. In my project Nightmare, through non-linear form of storytelling, I wanted to convey what it is like to go to sleep at night and have your subconscious attack you with your fears. I wanted to show that no matter how far you run or how much you run, you cannot escape the inevitable. If you keep running from the issue and let the nightmare take control, you are just robbing yourself of precious time.
This concept is personal to me. Towards the end of 2018, I was going through many personal issues in which I felt like I was constantly on the run. Whether it would be literally walking away from my problems or mentally running from them and not facing them, I knew I had to do what I needed to eventually. There was the version of me that thought I could get away with not facing the issues and there was the other version of me that knew that I needed to face the reality of my situation. I had to give in and face the issue because in life, time is of the essence. I accepted what my fate was at the time.
