DESCRIPTION: In order to better familiarize my class with the features of Adobe Illustrator, we were tasked with taking a photograph of ourselves and making a stylized portrait of sorts using the brush tool in the program. Like most of my Digital Media works involving tracing, I started by doing a silhouette of myself in sections, tracing large patches of skin that could all be on color. When I started actually adding the dots to make up the texture of my skin, any gaps between these colors would be covered up by the outline I made using these patches. My process varied quite a bit across my self portrait as some areas received a considerable amount of attention due to the variation of my skin tones while others had rather large patches making them up. I attempted to follow a similar principle for my hair but with the addition of using a specialized texture brush to mimic hair follicles, that way I could make the hair look more believable without having to spend a large amount of time getting it looking perfect.
