DESCRIPTION: One of the most basic uses for Adobe Photoshop is, of course, to edit and change images however a user wants, including removing/fixing mistakes. In the case of this assignment, I was given an assortment of old, damaged photographs to restore the damage to one of, so I picked the second above of a World War 1 medic. I primarily relied on the Spot Healing Tool to remove many of the blotches and smaller cracks, though for certain areas such as on the rug, the curtain and near the potted plant, I instead relied on either the patch tool or the healing tool to remove the damage. I went about removing these larger cracks in small sections, so that the tool sourced from an immediate area around the small selection to replace the scratches. The face in particular saw me delicately reconstructing the entire face from scratch, sourcing from what little sections were undamaged such as the visible eye and the shadow eye, using a combination of the spot brush and healing brush to cut into or expand both sections.
