DESCRIPTION: Up, Up, and Away is a short animation film made from the stop motion software, Dragon frame. Each action of the character was hand-drawn, colored, and cut to show motion as the images come together. We took a single image and combined them with the software to create a simple and funny film. The background was on a colorful piece of paper and it was very complicated to create since everything kept moving around. It has to be one of the most tedious works I have done for a short film before. Every image mattered to establish the character’s personality. The story was created because we were thinking of the movie UP and we wanted to include a small plot twist at the end. The 2D animation course was very fun to me because I learned how to create a film without any live characters on set. It made me explore more creative ideas and expand on my imagination. It was lots of working hours for a few seconds of video, but it is all worth it at the end.

DESCRIPTION: Ballerina Show is a short animation film made from the software, Harmony. The animation was created by drawing every single frame for the character to have motion. I selected a ballerina dancer because they move a lot when doing a dance, which helped me decide each direction for her whole body. She is dancing to the Nutcracker because it is one of my favorite songs for the ballerina to dance to. Every frame was drawn with the animation tablet and it was about 200 frames for just an eight-second film. It was definitely very tedious and hard work to get every detail to perfection. Even though the 2D animation class had back to back assignments, I am glad my professor pushed the class to keep working on short films to enhance the talent we all have within us. If it weren’t for the specific time frame for each project, I would have fewer projects to showcase. It was very tedious but, in the end, the 18 hours or more working on a few second films shows how much fun I had making all the content.

DESCRIPTION: Baby Sea Turtle is a short animation film made from the software, After Effects. The animation was created for the love that I have for turtles and how using plastic straws has a huge impact to them, sadly not many people know about it so I thought it would be nice to do a short animation about the awareness of the turtles. With After Effects, I was able to create an image and transform it into a moving puppet. I pinpoint the locations where I wanted to turtle to move, like the legs, tails, shell, and eyes. The blinking and mouth moving were created with PhotoShop since I needed different kinds of mouth motions to make it seem like the turtle was talking. It was fun creating every detail of the character to make it come alive. This was the final project for the 2D animation class, and it was my favorite project from the class because it made me realize how much work animators have to do for the ones we see on films and tv shows. It made me appreciate the work and dedication that has to do with every single detail to make the character realistic.
