DESCRIPTION: This was my midterm for this class. I spent many weeks brainstorming each individual part of the imagine, finding reference photos for each person and body part, and slowly composing the illustration. The goal of the assignment was to portray an idiom, and I chose “giving someone the cold shoulder”. I decided that I needed to represent this in a literal way, and after many tries I was able to come up with a design for the ice on the shoulder.

DESCRIPTION: For these sketches, I took pictures of the sky as well as gathered older photos from my collection and used them to recreate the sky. I thought this experience was really relaxing, as drawing clouds can be really calming and fun. This is another instance where I studied how the colors would blend together and mix.

DESCRIPTION: Another Collection of sketches from the sketchbook, these focusing on landscape. I wanted to focus on a specific style, so I thought this simplistic silhouette look would work well. I used reference images that would use a satisfying color palette.

DESCRIPTION: These sketches are more from the sketchbooks, however these contain color. By this point in the semester I was better at providing detail to my sketches and I began to employ the use of the selection tool for color and shape creation. Many of the sketches were based off of reference objects or images.
