DESCRIPTION: The goal of this assignment was to give the footage a new color grade. I wanted to give this normally calm footage a horror feel to it, so I removed all color and made it only black and white. Then I added a heavy vignette and some film grain to give it a darker and more “found footage” look.

DESCRIPTION: The goal of this assignment was to give some of my original footage three different color grades. The first was a primary, where I made it look how I would have wanted it for the original cut. The first grade is a version where the colors pop such as the green background or the colorful clothing the interviewee’s wear. The second grade is a version where just the skin tones are revealed, as the rest of the image is very muted.

DESCRIPTION: For this assignment, the original footage was just a man at a podium in an empty warehouse. I added the crowd, the stage, the walls, and the lion. This was good practice at using tracking in After Effects.

DESCRIPTION: This assignment was my first attempt at After Effects. The goal was to key out the mirror and replace it with footage from a different shot. After carefully keying out the body from each frame, I was able to place the image behind, the add an effect to give it a magic appearance.

DESCRIPTION: For this assignment, I was tasked with cutting together a scene with just the RAW footage. I had some experience to this point at narrative filmmaking, so it was quick work putting together the scene. While the actual footage isn’t great, I believe this was one of the better ways to portray the scene.

DESCRIPTION: This assignment was our first use of Avid Media Composer. The goal was to cut together a documentary using an A-roll and a B-roll, along with making sure the audio flowed well. This was a good exercise in organizing footage and using editing to tell a story that might not be there with just RAW footage.
