DESCRIPTION: “Calligram” is an image created of myself using only text. The original image was taken in New York by a professional photographer when I was in high school. I then took the text from different notes left to me by my mom and dad. Each word or phrase was chosen about the qualities that my parents admire about me. This project was not the original version, however. After the initial critiques, I went back and redid the entire project after learning and growing from my mistakes.

DESCRIPTION: “H.O.P.E.” is a poster created in Adobe Illustrator. I took an image of myself riding the bus and looking out a window from high school. I then turned the image into black and white, making the image have stark contrast. I then took the brush tool and painted in the different rainbow colors around my skin, hair, and parts of the background. Afterwards, I went back in with some white to highlight the lips and the eyes. Then I added the quote around the image which is by Shyla Colt. This piece is one of my favorite pieces I have done while at UT. I have a printed copy in my room to remind me about what I’m passionate about and that bad days won’t last forever.

DESCRIPTION: “Business Cards and Logo” are a set of products containing the same logo. First, I created some sketches by hand of what I wanted the design to look like, using different words, colors, and designs. Eventually, I decided I wanted to make a fake company using the word “Sweet,” as I really liked the cupcake design element. I then took the word and created the sketch in Illustrator. Afterwards, I made business cards and merch using different colors and styles. I actually have reused this project and instead of the word “Sweet,” I replaced it with my name. I now use this logo in my email signatures often.
