DESCRIPTION: “D&D Podcast Background Tracks” are a set of five tracks made to be background music for my senior final project. I plan on creating a D&D podcast with some of my friends and I decided to create the tracks for them. I used a technique from a video called “Ableton Tutorial – Make Ambient Music” by Ned Rush on YouTube and edited the sounds and added effects to my liking. Each track uses the same technique, randomizing notes in the MIDI track using an operator effect, but all have different sounds to them. To some of the tracks, I also added some royalty free sound effects that I then edited to give them an extra boost.

DESCRIPTION: “Minecraft Score” is a scoring project of the popular game “Minecraft.” I recorded gameplay footage from my PC of myself playing the game on my friend and I’s world. During the recording, I accidentally ran into a boss monster and died in the process. I then took the footage and stripped it of any game sound effects and edited the video for time using Premiere Pro. Afterwards, I imported the new video into Abelton and created my own track from there using royalty free sound effects combined with my own sounds and noises.
TITLE: Childhood Nostalgia Experiment
MEDIA: Digital Music
SOFTWARE: Abelton Live, Tracktor DJ
HARDWARE: Macbook Pro 2019
SPECIFICATIONS: 48 kHz
DURATION: 5’24”
CLASS: FMX 328 Sound in Media
PROFESSOR: Gregg Perkins
SEMESTER / TERM: FA 23
INSTITUTION: University of Tampa
DESCRIPTION: “Childhood Nostalgia Experiment” is an experimental music piece using various cartoon theme songs from the early 2000s. Using Abelton, I was able to create background beats which were then mixed with the original theme songs in Tracktor DJ. I then took the Tracktor DJ product, put it back into Abelton, and created more sounds with effects. I enjoyed learning how to use Tracktor DJ and it is a great free producing product. All of the theme songs belong to their original owners and are purely used for educational purposes only.

DESCRIPTION: “I’ll Take a Bagel with Butter” is a remix of a 4’33” recording. The original recording place was the University’s Starbucks. The title comes from someone saying “I’ll Take a Bagel with Butter” within the background of the recording. I found the conversation that followed to be very interesting so I decided to use it within the piece. This project was the first time I ever used Abelton Live, and I am happy that I am able to use the software effectively and efficiently.

DESCRIPTION: “8-Bit Track” is a song created in Logic Pro. This final course project needed to be at least 2’15” of an original track. We had full freedom in the genre that we chose. I took inspiration from games like ‘Super Mario Bros.’ and ‘The Legend of Zelda’ when creating this track.

TITLE: Generative Synthesis
MEDIA: Digital Music
SOFTWARE: VCV Rack
HARDWARE: Macbook Pro 2019
SPECIFICATIONS: 44.1 kHz
DURATION: 0’11”
CLASS: MUS 108 Recording and Electronic Music I
PROFESSOR: Michael Quintana
SEMESTER / TERM: SP 23
INSTITUTION: University of Tampa
DESCRIPTION: “Generative Synthesis” is a piece using randomized notes within VCV Rack. The program automatically outputs random beats and sounds using a randomizer and a clock. There is constant pink noise within the background. I wanted to generate a piece that would play calming and soothing sounds, so that is why I chose the String VCO modules in order to make a project that would be relaxing to listen to.
