DESCRIPTION: In my senior documentary class during my last semester, I planned to make my final project about the culture of the historic Ybor City neighborhood in Tampa and its eccentric crowds that the district attracts. After COVID-19 took its course, I slightly shifted the focus of my film and made it about how the pandemic has turned a once-bustling area into a ghost town. It starts as a kind of haunted portrait piece of the city that provides a distant commentary on the deserted state of the area. I was only able to use equipment that was personally available to me at home so it soon took a handheld form that eventually portrayed a loving and somber effect.

DESCRIPTION: In my friend Lauren’s Senior Seminar class, her thesis film was a documentary on the various opportunities in Tampa where you can watch film and experience cinema. She asked me to aid in her crew and be an acting Director of Photography on the project. I assisted her at various shooting locations where we conducted interviews and shot b-roll of moviegoers enjoying the iconic Tampa Theatre and an upscale downtown cinema-dining venue. This was great experience working together on a project with another student and I enjoyed operating the camera and helping out with the shoots.
