Professional / Artist’s Statement:

Nick Gross is an innovative thinker and a creative mind with a strong media presence. He has been immersed in several different forms of art all throughout his life – having strong passions for drawing, painting, writing, photography and videography. Having an artist for a mother, he grew up with a pencil in his hand and a hand in the paint bucket. He is a person who influences and learns from other visionaries like himself, teaching them to open their minds and to trust the artistic process. Above all else, Nick loves to tell stories and aims to use his imagination and talent to forge amazing work for top-ranking organizations.

Growing up in Omaha, Nebraska for 18 years, he was able to appreciate the friendly and inspiring “flyover country” that most outsiders deem the Midwest to be. Throughout his youth and high school years, he was highly interested in the performing arts – participating in musicals, plays, show choir and a capella choirs. However, as he neared graduation he garnered an extensive appreciation for camerawork and films in particular. Additionally, he picked up an interest in graphic design and digital illustration. The need to discover both himself and his passion for film inspired Nick to move to Florida for college and pursue his creative dreams.

During his most recent experience in the film industry, Nick became exposed to different aspects of film production at Diamond View Studios, a professional video production agency in Tampa, Florida that specializes in brand storytelling. He spent the summer interning for their company where he was tasked with editing footage, assisting in pre-production, preparing the studio and working behind the scenes on set. This position added fuel to his creative flame, giving him valuable real-life experience as well as a strengthened confidence in the field.

Overall, Mr. Gross desires to engage with many different creative minds and tell stories over a vast range of media outlets around the world. Nick invites top players to challenge him, converse with him and open his mind to any idea out there. His ultimate goal is to become a creative director or production assistant on set, using his drive and creative vision to bring extraordinary visuals and important messages to the public eye through sound and image. He expects to graduate in May of 2020 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in Film & Media at the University of Tampa. Additionally, he has always taken a liking for marketing and business strategies within the media world, and therefore is also pursuing a minor in Advertising. With a degree in this very competitive and creative field, he will be on the ground and in the trenches working towards his dreams.
