DESCRIPTION: As a puerto rican who chose to leave home for college, I coudn’t help but constantly miss my beautiful island. However, I knew I was not alone. This documentary follows Cukiara, a puerto rican group of musicians and dancers within the Tampa Bay area that practice and perform “bomba,” a traditional dance from Puerto Rico, as they express the power of bomba, what it means to them, and the importance of keeping our culture alive wherever we go.
