Angelo Ramirez
Animation
Senior, graduating on Spring 2023.
Ever Since I joined this university. I was able to expand my ability to create with being able to use programs such as most of Adobe, Maya, and Toon boom harmony, where previously I tried to improvise with what I had back then to create, back when I was young I had a knack for finding cheap tools to keep myself entertained such as paper and create my own world. And now that I have more tools to mess around with the more I get to experiment.
Having that ability I would say I have some strengths, but one thing that I’m grateful for is having the people near me in such a similar department that I could ask for help and at the same time have a sense of competition to keep me motivated since I hear that the real world is going to be like that. But my strengths are the creativity of my projects I put in to, a short time of learning, like when there is a program that I got to use and really like. I continue using it to see what I can make outside my given assignments, and although I’m more of a visual learner I can learn to do something relatively fast and with what I give myself ambitious goals.
Though sometimes with those ambitious goals I set it so high up that it’s sometimes so far to reach, not impossible but hard, like given a 30-90 second animation assignment I make my first goal 60 seconds to have an idea and have to shorten it to a reasonable size once I realize how much work it will take but never setting that first goal to the minimum it would be a nightmare if I would have to shorten. But something I really need is while I’m happy having people around me with a similar goals, my social skills can be lacking, it comes into effect when asking for help since I do most of my work alone, having assistance can sometimes fill out some of my weaknesses on something I struggle to learn, but I plan to get a job on campus to have people to talk to next semester.
I though of what I might be for my future. At first I was unsure but recently after thinking about it. I see myself being a 3D Animator. I would like to still have 2D drawing and animation as a hobby but I find most enjoyment on the few times I got to keyframe and animate and with next semester for either senior project or independent study, I’ll be working on a longer 3D animation. And once I’ll out there hired by an animation studio working on 3D animation.
