Description: For this project, I wanted to touch on a sensitive topic regarding Ecuador. These last couple of years, terrorism and crime has grown exponentially in my country due to the corruption that is abundant in my country. It is also a topic probably many people in the United States and around the world are not aware about, and I wanted to raise awareness about it. The videos displayed at the start show the positive and good things I like about my country. These are also images someone might think of when you tell them about Ecuador. After a couple of seconds, These videos change to the reality we are currently experiencing which involves murder, crime, and terrorism. Some of the videos shown are not even available on the internet and were passed through relatives mostly through WhatsApp.

Description: For this project, I made a small scale installation with boxes and objects in my room to display videos I took walking around Tampa. When I’m stressed or just not feeling right at the moment I like taking walks to just destress and relax. I added the hamster wheel moving around as if it was going around the city as a way to pass that sense of calmness I have when I do these walks. What I liked about this project was the way an image displayed when reflected through a plastic surface which I would later use for my final project.

Description: For this installation, I used my football shirts from Ecuador and flag to show moments in Ecuador’s sport history that personally bring me pride and joy of where I’m from. Sports like soccer are really big and important in my country and I find sports where an Ecuadorian is present allows for the country to be together despite any differences and cheer for individuals who want to represent the country the best way possible.
