TITLE: Hugo
YOUR ROLE: Screenwriter
MEDIA: Script
SOFTWARE: Final Draft 12
DURATION: 4 Pages
CLASS: FMX 341 Screenwriting Shorts
PROFESSOR: Thomas Aquilina
SEMESTER / TERM: SP 23
INSTITUTION: University of Tampa
DESCRIPTION: Hugo is, as part of an assignment, a revision of a script written by Libby Welman, one of the other students in my FMX 341 class. The story follows a German soldier in a WWI warzone trying to get to a doctor to help his dying son but the French doctor refuses to help him because their two nationalities were at war. The nuances of Germany’s role in WWI and the ethical conversations about depicting a German WWI soldier in a sympathetic light were beyond the scope of this revision.

TITLE: Two Dinners (Adapted from “Wants” by Grace Paley)
YOUR ROLE: Screenwriter
MEDIA: Script
SOFTWARE: Final Draft 12
DURATION: 5 Pages
CLASS: FMX 341 Screenwriting Shorts
PROFESSOR: Thomas Aquilina
SEMESTER / TERM: SP 23
INSTITUTION: University of Tampa
DESCRIPTION: Two Dinners is an adaptation of Grace Paley’s short story “Wants.” It follows two people having two meals together, once while they were married in a dead relationship, and once later in life after they got divorced. Thematically, it focuses on the character Rose who was very held back and suppressed while in the marriage and is able to become a fuller satisfied person on her own terms.

TITLE: I Hate My Roommates
YOUR ROLE: Screenwriter
MEDIA: Script
SOFTWARE: Final Draft 12
DURATION: 7 Pages (My portion)
CLASS: FMX 341 Screenwriting Shorts
PROFESSOR: Thomas Aquilina
SEMESTER / TERM: SP 23
INSTITUTION: University of Tampa
DESCRIPTION: I Hate My Roommates was a collaborative script written by myself, Camden Smith, and Delaney Bailey. It was written as if it were a pilot episode for a sitcom set in college where one woman has to share a dorm with 3 men. The premise is very inspired by the sitcom New Girl. This was one of the few times I have tried writing comedy as it is not what usually interests me.

TITLE: Pirates of Varying Legality
YOUR ROLE: Screenwriter
MEDIA: Script
SOFTWARE: Final Draft 12
DURATION: 7 Pages
CLASS: FMX 341 Screenwriting Shorts
PROFESSOR: Thomas Aquilina
SEMESTER / TERM: SP 23
INSTITUTION: University of Tampa
DESCRIPTION: Pirates of Varying Legality is a short film script about a privateer who is lost at sea with his pirate prisoner after a storm killed the rest of the crew. The two grow to like one another and accept that what they do is not so different, since a privateer is basically just a pirate with state sponsorship. I did have to take some creative liberties with actually how principled privateers are, admittedly.

TITLE: Yours to Decide
YOUR ROLE: Screenwriter
MEDIA: Script
SOFTWARE: Final Draft 12
DURATION: 5 Pages
CLASS: FMX 312 Narrative Production
PROFESSOR: Taylor Curry
SEMESTER / TERM: SP 23
INSTITUTION: University of Tampa
DESCRIPTION: Yours to Decide follows the story of a 1940s man who is forced to choose between taking care of his dying mother or fighting fascists in a war he believes in. This is directly influenced from an anecdote by Jean-Paul Sartre, whose philosophy has greatly influenced how I think. The script ends right before actually making a decision. The point I tried to make was that there is no truly right decision until a choice is made, which is very in line with existentialist world views like that of Sartre’s.

TITLE: Memories of a Home
YOUR ROLE: Screenwriter
MEDIA: Script
SOFTWARE: Final Draft 12
DURATION: 10 Pages
CLASS: FMX 240 Screenwriting Fundamentals
PROFESSOR: Taylor Curry
SEMESTER / TERM: FA 22
INSTITUTION: University of Tampa
DESCRIPTION: Memories of a Home was the first proper script I made in college. I wrote and revised this script over the course of a semester. The script deals with a non-binary character named Amber who is incredibly socially isolated, depressed, and unsure in their identity. They explore an abandoned home which shows visions of previous queer people who used to live there, which leads to Amber to come to terms with themself and their identity.
