SEMESTER / TERM: FA 22

DESCRIPTION: My final project for 328, this is the culmination of my work in the class. I chose to make an experimental soundscape representation of the internet. For some of the samples, I used audio clips from videos on archive.org. I particularly focused on old “intro to the internet” style videos and advertisements to highlight the absurdity of the online world in the optimism of internet early adopters with what it became which is just a framework to present advertisements.

TITLE: Chernobyl (Scene Rescore)
MEDIA: Experimental Sound
SOFTWARE: Ableton Live 11
DURTATION: 4’57”
CLASS: FMX 328 Sound in Media
PROFESSOR: Gregg Perkins
SEMESTER / TERM: FA 22
INSTITUTION: University of Tampa
DESCRIPTION: This is a rescore of a scene from the series Chernobyl. I wanted to go for a more orchestral direction to highlight the tension of the scene. At different points I hard cut the music entirely to highlight a dramatic beat.

TITLE: Free Rescore
MEDIA: Narrative (Soundtrack)
SOFTWARE: Ableton Live 11
DURTATION: 1’24”
CLASS: FMX 328 Sound in Media

SEMESTER / TERM: FA 22

DESCRIPTION: This is another rescore of one of the films I made in SIM. The idea was to emphasize the descent into desperation the film tries to go for. For this I used the almost staccato loops and creating a pulsing sense in the soundtrack.

MEDIA: Experimental (Soundtrack)
SOFTWARE: Ableton Live 11
DURTATION: 1’32”
CLASS: FMX 328 Sound in Media

SEMESTER / TERM: FA 22
INSTITUTION: University of Tampa
DESCRIPTION: Here I rescored one of the films I made in SIM. Since this was an experimental piece I wanted the soundtrack to be in that abstract place. I used a lot of repetition and loops to create the uneasy feeling. Additionally, some clips are synced to be cued by the video (i.e. the piano note hit when cutting to the preacher character).

TITLE: Eye of the Chaos
MEDIA: Experimental Sound
SOFTWARE: Ableton Live 11
DURTATION: 2’59”
CLASS: FMX 328 Sound in Media
PROFESSOR: Gregg Perkins
SEMESTER / TERM: FA 22
INSTITUTION: University of Tampa
DESCRIPTION: For this, I created an experimental sound piece using Ableton. I mostly used this as an opportunity to just play around with creating musical note sequences using the tools in Ableton. The feel I was going for with the final result was creating a sense of chaos with a section which hard pivots to a period of serenity.

CLASS: FMX 328 Sound in Media
PROFESSOR: Gregg Perkins
SEMESTER / TERM: FA 22
INSTITUTION: University of Tampa
DESCRIPTION: This is the first assignment I made for the Sound in Media class. I was tasked with creating the feel of the soundscape of an environment using audio I recorded. This was also my first time using Ableton. I chose to recreate a mall environment, recording audio from Citrus Park Mall. I found the sound of a coin dropping on the floor quite interesting so I emphasized that in my recreation.
