This piece is based off of my high school friend group and living in the Orlando area. The theme park I imagined while writing this is FUN SPOT (I obviously exaggerated a lot of details). I miss movies like Goonies or American Graffiti and I wanted to capture that within in my writing. This short script started as just an exercise for the class but has inspired me into making this a feature length script, but taking the dark comedy route. This Assignment made me realize I was a dialogue writer. I liked focusing on speech and different speech patterns to build the character. If I can read this aloud an believe a person would realistically say these words then I&#8217;ve done my job.
