This documentary was my first project, as well as first time ever using Avid Media Composer. Already being so familiar and comfortable with Adobe Premiere Pro, I found it a bit difficult getting used to the dramatically different editing program, however once I got the hang of it, it became much clearer and I can now take advantage of the great advantages Avid has to offer.

For this project, I learned how to use the masking effect on After Effects. Although the footage I chose to replace the original footage is a bit lower quality and doesn’t quite match the original, I am still very happy with how it turned out, regarding the rotoscoping and tracking of the mask and character. This is an incredible skill to have now that I know this technique, and the opportunities to use it in my future projects endless.

The main objective of this project was to use and get familiar with using the camera tracking tool on After Effects, and the chroma key effect to work with and eliminate green screens from footage. Using the color correction tools, I was further able to hide the green screen and look like a seamless live action shot.
