I’m Ange Wood, a senior at the University of Tampa, graduating in May 2020, in two days specifically. I’m from central New Jersey. I’m a Capricorn. I’ve always been a creative person, but as I was growing up I never quite new how to express myself. Going to The University of Tampa gave me my voice and a computer mouse. I learned techniques on how to draw, skills with the adobe creative suite, how to record, mix and master music. I learned how to play the bass guitar. I learned how to creatively use computer coding software.
All of this was a process though, and finding inspiration, finding ideas that move your projects further isn’t easy. I found inspiration in the world around me, looking around, taking note of behaviors. I have a whole notes section in my phone dedicated to things I’ve heard people say that ring true to me. It’s with an open ear, open eyes, and an open heart that I’m able to take my surroundings and turn them into art. I have also learned to find inspiration from within, which has been a consent learning experience, and at points made me feel very vulnerable. I learned though some of the best art comes from that place of vulnerability.
As for what’s next, I’m not quite sure at the moment. We are currently under some extremely unusual circumstances with the COVID-19 pandemic that has affected much of the way society normally runs, and the job market. What I do know is that I moved back up north, home, to New Jersey, in the hopes of landing a job in New York City, so I can commute for a little while and then find a place to live in the city. I hope to be working at a full-service advertising agency or as a graphic designer in the near future.
