DESCRIPTION: I remember how terrified I was to work on this project since it was mainly done in the woodshop. I’d never worked with saws before, so the majority of this project was me messing up horribly with the table saws and patching the fixes. The assignment was to create some kind of three dimensional sculpture based on a style of architecture. I based mine partially on gothic arches, and towers from english castles. A lot of the design elements were a pain to actually put together, but the end result was worth the trouble.

DESCRIPTION: We’d been doing a lot of stuff with sculpture design from life in this class, and this assignment was rough. Traditional art isn’t particularly my medium, but I was interested in the loose guidelines we were given. We were meant to create new designs based on other projects and things we observed from real life. A lot of my projects wound up being geometric in some form, so I worked primarily with squares. It was also way easier to try and cut tiny squares out of wood than circles, but I do wish I tried to be more unique with my assignment.
