SEMESTER: Spring 2020
DESCRIPTION: “Holes” is an experimental short film that uncovers loneliness in many different perspectives. It uses lyrics from different songs, but spoken out loud and manipulated through voice effects to sound hazy. It also uses a song about loneliness and different definition of loneliness are read aloud. This is the first time I used a drone for filming which was challenging, but expanded my knowledge.

TITLE: Seeing Red
ROLE: Director, Cinematographer, Editor
MEDIA: Structural Digital Film
SOFTWARE: Adobe Premiere Pro
HARDWARE: iPhone XR
CLASS: FMX 314 Experimental Filmmaking
PROFESSOR: Dana Plays
SEMESTER: Spring 2020
DESCRIPTION: “Seeing Red” is a structural film that strongly uses colors of mostly red and white. It is structured to go back and forth between the themes of cleanliness and horror. I love to use happy songs for an ominous film because I love the feeling it gives the audience. What happens in this film is a mystery that can only be interpreted by the audiences thoughts. Although it is very abstract, there is meaning behind this mystery thriller film.

TITLE: & Burn
ROLE: Director, Cinematographer, Editor
MEDIA: Experimental Short
SOFTWARE: Adobe Premiere Pro
HARDWARE: iPhone XR
CLASS: FMX 314 Experimental Filmmaking
PROFESSOR: Dana Plays
SEMESTER: Spring 2020
DESCRIPTION: “& Burn” is an experimental time lapse of a young girl burning many things over and over. She burns pictures, lights cigarettes, newspapers, etc. This film shows an aggressive way of dismissing ones’ past while also leaving a little bit of mystery. This captures many different angles to make an abstract perspective for the audience. I experimented a lot with color for the first time in this film, which helped my advancement in that department.

ROLE: Cinematographer, Editor
MEDIA: Digital Art Experimental
SOFTWARE: Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects
HARDWARE: iPhone XR
CLASS: FMX 314 Experimental Filmmaking
PROFESSOR: Dana Plays
SEMESTER: Spring 2020
DESCRIPTION: “Hand drawn” is an overlapping experimental film. I drew on an empty piece of film with many different colors and shapes with sharpie. I then processed this footage into something tangible. I then combined this and overlapped it onto of another film. The film I overlapped it with was different pieces from my other projects manipulated to become new. This was the first time I drew on a film reel and got to develop it and see a new project go through the original process.

MEDIA: Chromakey Experimental
SOFTWARE: Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro
HARDWARE: iPhone XR
CLASS: FMX 314 Experimental Filmmaking
PROFESSOR: Dana Plays
SEMESTER: Spring 2020
DESCRIPTION: “Light in all the Darkness” uses a chromakey effect to capture different parts of natural landscape and crosses it with others to develop an abstract story. It takes place in the same area, but has many overlaps and manipulated features from the normal perspective. This project pushed me to learn and helped my further knowledge of green screen effects.

TITLE: Mutated Reality of Evolution
ROLE: Editor
MEDIA: Prelinger archival footage
SOFTWARE: Adobe Premiere Pro
CLASS: FMX 314 Experimental Filmmaking
PROFESSOR: Dana Plays
SEMESTER: Spring 2020
DESCRIPTION: “Mutated Reality of Evolution” uses multiple pieces from found footage on Prelinger to combine, and manipulate them into something new. This film is about time and perspective. It goes into a very abstract theme of reality. The making of this film was very new to me. Putting together this new film from a collection of previously found footage and changing it was very interesting and eye opening, as I did not know how original I could actually make my piece.

TITLE: There is Always Hope…
ROLE: Editor
MEDIA: Prelinger archival footage
SOFTWARE: Adobe Premiere Pro
CLASS: FMX 314 Experimental Filmmaking
PROFESSOR: Dana Plays
SEMESTER: Spring 2020
DESCRIPTION: “There is Always Hope” is a short film that uses only found footage from Prelinger archives. It was put together from many different sources on Prelinger, and manipulated to become a different film. This film tells a story using mainly text. It is about wars around the country and how there will always be hope with the positive political music playing in the background. I had never used archival footage before that wasn’t mine, so this was an awesome experimentation of being able to make a new film from many things that are already found.
