Luckily we had that first day to block and shoot so by the time it came to film at Vu, we were prepared. We knew what shots we wanted and how to get them, but now there was a new challenge with working with the volume. Once we were on set I knew how crucial our time was and planned for multiple departments to set up at the same time, and they did so flawlessly. My DP Steven Nye and AC Dan Wescott get the job and Mo-Sys tracker set up on top of the camera. Meanwhile, Joseph Cannetelli and the Vu crew got started optimizing the Unreal world I put together on the volume.
Once everything was up and running, shooting went pretty well until the computer crashed. Unfortunately we lost about 2 hours or so due to technical difficulties and I only got to shoot 2 out of 3 of the scenes I wanted but I still had the shoot we did on green screen to work with. Everything considered, it was a success on shooting and for our students to get more hands on experience with working on a virtual production.
