DESCRIPTION: “The Trials” is a short comedy film about two college students forced to endure three “grueling trials” by an unknown mastermind. Even though I wrote the script for this film in another class, I didn’t actually get to shoot it for a class at the time. Instead, I decided to shoot it for Campus Movie Fest and it ended up being my first time entering a film into a festival. The main goal of this piece was just to create a fun film that didn’t take itself too seriously.

DESCRIPTION: “The Treasure Hunt” is a short comedy about a college student that sets up a fake “treasure hunt” around her school to gain subscribers on YouTube. This was the first narrative film that I had made at UT and without a crew. I didn’t know anything about sound recording aside from the iPhone rode mics so looking back I’ve found the audio in some parts is not great. Overall, I don’t think this was a terrible first attempt at a narrative and looking back on it, I can definitely see how my skills have improved over the years!

DESCRIPTION: For this assignment we had the option to either write an essay, or create a video essay on pretty much any topic of our choosing. Since I have written many essays in my life but have never done a video essay, I decided to give it a shot. In this video I discuss the two main themes present in the movie First Reformed (2018), which are environmental issues and religion and how they both can be tied to extremist behavior.
