DESCRIPTION: This was a really tough project for me, simply because I had never animated before. I don’t consider myself a great illustrator, so for the project, I decided that rotoscoping would be the best technique for me. For the video portion, I filmed myself doing a popular dance on Tik Tok that was about 15 seconds long. Then, I went into Photoshop and broke the video down into individuals layers. I then traced myself on every frame and put my animated self on a white background. After I was finished animated the dance, I really wanted to add something else to the animation. I decided to switch from color to black and white on certain actions. In total, for 15 seconds, the project took me about a week. Safe to say I came out of this with a new appreciation for animators!

DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this piece was to show a person dealing with a physical manifestation of their mental illness. I really wanted to try animation on a bigger scale but I knew for this project in particular, I wouldn’t have the time to create a fully animated piece. Instead, I decided to mix video with animation, that way I could still work with animating without having to worry about creating a full animated project. Since I was using the rotoscope technique for the animation, I first recorded myself going through the actions that I wanted my animation to do. Then from the same angle, I recorded myself reacting to what the animation would be doing. For the actual animating, I used photoshop and put each video that I was going to animate into the timeline and separated it into layers. I traced myself going through each of the motions and turned myself into a shadow creature. Lastly, I took the animated layers, put them over the recorded video, and made a couple adjustments to make sure it looked like I was reacted directly to the animation. Overall, this took me about a week to create.

DESCRIPTION: For this assignment we needed to heavily photoshop an image of ourselves and then animate the transformation. For this photo, I removed blemishes, removed bags under my eyes, whitened my teeth, darkened my eyebrows and makeup, brightened the whites of my eyes and added more curls to my hair. I also slimed my face and pushed my forehead down a bit. Lastly, I adjusted the color on the photo to make certain aspects stand out more. Whenever I made an edit to the photo, I would put it on a new layer so that when I went to animate, all I had to do was put it into a timeline and exported as a GIF.
