DESCRIPTION: For this project we needed to come up with a fictional business and then create a logo for it. The business that I came up with is called “Emily Morgan Studio” and it is an independent film studio created to give opportunities to young female filmmakers. For the actual logo, I wanted it to be very simplistic. In this case the name is the most powerful part of the brand, so I didn’t want to take focus away from it. The font I chose for “Emily Morgan” is simple and gives off an elegant and professional feel, whereas the font I chose for “Studio” is a basic, complementary font to previous one.

DESCRIPTION: The concept for this project was relatively simple, it was to create a poster with our image and a phrase. For my poster, the phrase “strong like a girl” is a play on how woman are often told as a backhanded compliment that they are “strong for a girl”. I wanted to take that concept and give it power. The hardest part of transforming the image into black and white was that, since my hair is darker in color, it kept getting lost in the background.

DESCRIPTION: The first step of this project was to write a one page letter to our future selves 20 years in the future. The second step was to then create a self portrait calligram using the words and sentences from the letter. I found that it was surprisingly hard to write a letter to my future self since I honestly didn’t know what to say. After I was able to write the letter, I decided I wanted the words that I used to describe myself in the letter to really stand out. For example, for my lips I used the word “loud” since it was a word I used to describe myself and it correlated to the mouth. The most difficult part of this project however, was getting the proportions and angles correct and making sure the image had a certain depth to it.
