DESCRIPTION: A compilation of raw 16mm black & white footage from Ky Mungenast’s senior seminar project, “In Bloom.” Self processed in negative, digitized on RED, and color corrected using Adobe Premiere Pro. Per request of the director, the 2nd camera unit was intended to find the “unseen moments” in the film, in contrast to the digital camera’s main coverage of the narrative’s story. This independent study has provided an opportunity for myself to work with celluloid on a narrative project, a part of filmmaking that has been removed from curriculum for the past 10+ years. It was a great first experience to really gain an understanding of having celluloid on a modern set.

DESCRIPTION: Raw footage reel of digitized 16mm shots documenting the victory boat parade amongst a pandemic in downtown Tampa following the home team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, winning the Super Bowl in 2021. Being a part of Warren Cockerham’s independent study, in collaboration with Kodak, provided this opportunity to document in color. This project gained social media traction from Kodak’s twitter, drawing attention from NFL films, who approached us to view the footage and possibly use in a future documentary. This class has been able to expose me to the possibilities of credited, professional work.

DESCRIPTION: Hired on as Director of Photography for a short narrative film to record in digital. This project incorporated a low budget version of virtual production. The interior car scenes were filmed with mirrored projection, instead of green/blue screen. We wanted a low light scene, worried that the illumination of a green screen would impair the lighting design of the character and setting; we opted to try a new technique, exposing me to the possibilities of virtual production.
