DESCRIPTION: This film was created for Campus Movie Fest, a film festival which gives filmmakers one week to complete a film. I wrote it realizing that I really enjoy creating comedies, something lighthearted, but still with the dark twist that I’ve been doing in my past work. I feel that as a filmmaker, a lot of my work has been quite morbid, so taking from the style that I’ve established, the preproduction process of this film has been my favorite by far. Imaging characters like Wendy (Abby Byrne) and Allie (Gaby Almeida) was really fun for me, and making movies like this is something I’d like to keep doing. The Craft is a “mockumentary” style comedy about Wendy, a failed witch attempts to perform a love spell for her desperate roommate invested in her social media presence. The film won a Jury Award at the competition and will compete at CMF’s Terminus festival in Los Angeles in summer 2020.

The film follows a similar plot to Spring Breakers (Harmony Korine, 2012), but with a twist. In the film, we follow a group of college girls who will do whatever it takes to get money to go on spring break.

DESCRIPTION: For this project, I was placed in a group where we were given the task of recreating a period film and making it modern. My group decided to choose the film, American Hustle (Russell, 2013). Since it was around September when we started preproduction, Halloween decorations had gone on sale in stores, so we decided to take advantage of that and turn the setting into a club on Halloween. This was my first time ever DP’ing on a film, which was a bit of a challenge learning to make a shot list and collaborating with the director and art director for what the setting will look like and what should be seen. I wanted to incorporate a colorful and meaningful atmosphere, utilizing gels and backlighting Gaby (plays Alayna). Overall this was a good first project that I’ve gotten to DP on and push me out of my comfort zone.

DESCRIPTION: This project was presented as a challenge to create a radio drama similar to Orson Welle’s “War of the Worlds”, essentially being able to tell a story using only sound, but well enough that it could be seen visually. I wrote this piece inspired by Heathers (Lehmann, 1988) and the web series, Most Popular Girls in School. I utilized friends of mine as voice actors having them recite lines together. I treated this like audio in a film, creating a room tone, walla, and atmospheric sounds.

DESCRIPTION: Short film I made the winter of my senior year in high school as an independent project. It was an official selection at the Reel Short Teen Film Festival at the Enzian Theatre in Orlando, FL. Due to the success at the festival, I was invited by Banks Helfrich to do a filmmaker q&a about the film at the Life Screenings Short Film Festival in Orlando, FL. The synopsis follows a young teen who experiences an epiphany when reality isn’t what she perceives through her artwork. All of the paintings in the film were done traditionally by me with acrylic paint on canvas.
