The post-production process was one of many challenges. I worked with some of the most extensive files I have edited, and my computer was not happy with me initially. I had to invest in a bigger drive to keep all three days in one place and create proxies to make the editing more manageable. Once I could edit my files without lag, I started multiple rough drafts until I was happy with the final product. I noticed some of the clips had a bit of wind in the back, so I had to teach myself how to make the audio clear as possible. Color grading and creating stills was one of my favorite parts as I saw the color of the film pop. I made that lighthearted and wholesome look that I was aiming for, with the dark undertones to show my main character Phoenix’s struggle with opening himself up. The timeline was pretty extensive at the end, but it was worth every second.
