DESCRIPTION: “Mother’s Ghost” is a story that follows an ordinary teenage boy named Grayson, who has a knack for drawing in his sketchbook. Since his mother died when he was very young, Grayson has lived at home with his sister Alexis and his father, Mike. His family has not mentioned his mother in years until one day, while he was cleaning the garage, Grayson finds a dagger with his Mother’s initials engraved on its blade. After Grayson mistakenly cuts himself on the dagger, he begins to feel things others may deem supernatural. Will Grayson ever find out what happened to his mother, or will his family stop him before the truth is revealed? I was inspired to write this piece because I have always been interested in movies and television shows about supernatural and paranormal beings. After working through this idea for weeks and developing Grayson’s character, I realized having him go on a mission to find his mother would be very intriguing for me to write. While I have only written the first act so far, the story build-up can put people on edge and make them think about what could happen next, what happened to Grayson’s mom, and who is really on Grayson’s side.

TITLE: Stuffed Love

DESCRIPTION: “Stuffed Love” was a script written for my Narrative Production class and was brought to life as a short film in the same semester. The story is about a boy named Benjamin who loses his girlfriend Ava in a fatal car accident after their last date. The last time she sees him, she gifts him a stuffed giraffe to keep him company. Riddled with grief, Benjamin goes through his day doing all the things he and his girlfriend once did together. In the end, we see Benjamin break down over all of the things he could have had before his love was taken from him too soon. I was inspired to write this story because I, too, have lost someone close to me and understand what it is like to feel lost without them and hold tight to the items that remind me of them. The story shows the hard truth about how grief can strike a person while also bringing a lighthearted touch to the piece with the stuffed giraffe that reminds the viewer of lost love.
