DESCRIPTION: A one-minute video art installation that tells a message about what it is like to be a transgender male. For this assignment, I was tasked with creating a video art piece that was based on the concept of embracing error. As someone who is a strong activist in the LGBTQ+ community, I believe the topic I chose brought up an important message to share with the world. Many people who are a part of the transgender community can feel ostracized from society and struggle with accepting their identity for a very long time. Some transgender individuals wrestle with body positivity due to their gender dysphoria and are afraid to show people who they are, even after having gender-confirming surgeries. I took the concept of embracing the error by welcoming how trans people’s bodies do not always align with how they truly feel inside themselves. I wanted to show that it is okay to be who you are by becoming wholly vulnerable and raw with the audience. The message is that trans men are men, trans women are women, and all trans people deserve just as much love as anyone else.
