The Magic Within

TITLE: The Magic Within
MEDIA: Feature-length script
SOFTWARE: Final Draft 11
DURATION: 118 pages
CLASS: FMX 440 Screenwriting Features
PROFESSOR: Taylor Curry
SEMESTER / TERM: FA 20
INSTITUTION: The University of Tampa
DESCRIPTION: My first full feature-length script that I have written and completed. I began this endeavor the fall of 2020 for my Screenwriting Features class and all I had to go off of was a bud of an idea. After I drafted a rough outline and began to write my first few pages, it all just kind of came to me, and I quickly fell in love with the characters and the story. Writing a full piece like this in the middle of a pandemic was difficult though; I was meeting all of my deadlines every week to submit my pages, but there were some days where I struggled to grasp both new ideas and the motivation to write. I’m very proud of myself for pushing through and refusing to give up. I met the 90 page requirement for the class by the end of the semester, but because the script wasn’t completely finished, I strove to complete it over winter break. The last words made their way onto the page in January after I was finally struck with an idea of how to craft the final action scene, and I was thrilled. It’s very satisfying to complete such a big piece of work! The story follows 18-year-old Aurelia (Arlie) Maganti, a girl born into a family of wizards but never able to use magic. Her assumption that she’s human is quickly shattered when she stumbles across the Mixed Blooded vampire Juliette Stormwind, who senses strong magic within her. Seeing that Juliette had been hibernating for 75 years prior to their meeting, Arlie offers to teach her about the modern world in exchange for lessons about how to use her magic. The two women quickly bond through their lessons and time together, but the peace is soon shattered when dark powers begin to come after Arlie. Arlie discovers that she’s meant for more than she could’ve ever imagined, and if she can’t awaken her true power in time, the world she knows might be lost.
The Galactic Games

TITLE: The Galactic Games
MEDIA: Screenplay
SOFTWARE: Final Draft 11
DURATION: Currently 74 pages
CLASS: COM 340 Screenwriting I
PROFESSOR: Cynthia Savaglio
SEMESTER / TERM: SP 20
INSTITUTION: The University of Tampa
DESCRIPTION: Heavily inspired by Star Wars, I started writing this piece for my Screenwriting I class as I wanted to create and present something that was a little out of this world (pun intended). The story follows Avalia Sovna, her strange aquatic equine companion Kyrie, and brothers Orrin and Mirosh Berisaj, who have all woken up on a desolate desert planet with no recollection of how they got there or who they are. Unbeknownst to them, their disappearance is about to trigger a galactic war that had already been boiling on the horizon for years. It becomes a race against time when they unintentionally stumble across their identities and have to fight to get back their home planets before all hell breaks loose. The story was originally intended to be a feature-length script, but because there’s so much that I want to do with it, I’m looking to turn it into a tv series instead so events can be broken up into episodes.
Love Isn’t Perfect

TITLE: Love Isn’t Perfect
MEDIA: Short
SOFTWARE: Celtx
DURATION: 7 pages
CLASS: FMX 312 Narrative Production
PROFESSOR: Aaron Walker
SEMESTER / TERM: FA 19
INSTITUTION: The University of Tampa
DESCRIPTION: The script for my narrative final in narrative production. As stated previously under the “Narrative” tab, the short follows a couple that has just fought. Neither of them have talked to each other in a few days, but they realize that they were both in the wrong and reach out to talk through it. The story was inspired by my own long-distance relationship as my boyfriend and I have certainly had our share of fights but always manage to work things out because we understand that communication is key. The original reunion was set to be a beach scene, but because of what ended up happening with my actors and the set in general, plans changed and we used Plant Park instead.
Zelladonia

TITLE: Zelladonia
MEDIA: Screenplay
SOFTWARE: Celtx
DURATION: 80 pages
CLASS: COM 226 Intro to Scriptwriting for TV and Motion Pics
PROFESSOR: Thomas Hammond
SEMESTER / TERM: SP 19
INSTITUTION: The University of Tampa
DESCRIPTION: This was officially the first script I had ever written! I was so excited to come up with a wild idea to put on a page, and that’s exactly what I did. Prior to this, I was way more used to writing in a novel format, so I had to get used to the change in style…and ultimately decided that I was way more into the script format than writing a story the usual way. Zelladonia follows Calypso Kalia, an art student who has always had appreciation for art museums and everything in them. While visiting the Louvre with her best friend Hailee, Calypso becomes vexed by one particular painting and ends up getting pulled into it and into another world. Hailee, on the other hand, can’t get pulled in with her as she’s not originally from that world. Calypso is. This alternate world is called Zelladonia and is where the title of the script gets its name. Zelladonia is a world that has been devastated by a powerful and evil lord, and the only one who can stop him is a sorceress (Calypso) who’s power surpasses that of the lord’s. Calypso has absolutely no idea of her history and her destiny, and she only has a matter of time to fulfill her role before the evil lord discovers a way to strip her power and take it for himself.
