TITLE: The Life of a College Art Student – A Documentary
MEDIA: DSLR Canon Rebel T3i
SOFTWARE: Adobe Premier Pro
SPECIFICATIONS: 13:58 .mp4
CLASS: COM 241 Intro to Sound Image and Motion
PROFESSOR: Kristopher Atkinson
SEMESTER / TERM: SP 18
INSTITUTION: University of Tampa
This was a video documentary I did for Com 241. We had free reign to make any type of documentary we wanted with any type of subject matter. Being that I am a Digital Arts student, I wanted to do a documentary highlighting the life of an art student because people underestimate the amount of time, patience, and passion it takes to be an art student. The woman in my documentary is an Art Therapy major named Haley Haren. She talks about her life as an art student and the impacts it has had on her life and others. I used Adobe’s Premier Pro to edit this documentary, and it helped further my understanding of how to edit a video more in depth.
TITLE: Where’s the Beach? A Performance Art Piece
MEDIA: Iphone 8 plus
SOFTWARE: Adobe Premier Pro
SPECIFICATIONS: 4:26 .mp4
CLASS: ART 211 – Art and Technology
PROFESSOR: Blanka Roundtree
SEMESTER / TERM: FA 17
INSTITUTION: University of Tampa
This video is a Performance Art piece I did for Art and Technology. We were studying performance art and the impact they had on the art world. We were tasked to create our own performance piece, so I went into the city of Chicago in the middle of the winter dressed for the beach, asking people if they knew where the beach was located. It was hilarious to do and to see how people reacted to my experiment. It helped me further develop my understanding of what art can be and how impartial it actually is in the real world.
TITLE: I’m Blue – Experimental Film
MEDIA: DSLR Canon Rebel T3i
SOFTWARE: Adobe Premier Pro
SPECIFICATIONS: 3:56 .mp4
CLASS: COM 241 Intro to Sound Image and Motion
PROFESSOR: Kristopher Atkinson
SEMESTER / TERM: SP 17
INSTITUTION: University of Tampa
This is one of my favorite projects I did for Professor Atkinson in COM 241. This was my first project we ever did and it was awesome. Doing an experimental film was something I have always wanted to do. Being able to express a theme, emotion, or idea without and actual story line to follow was such a challenge but so fun to do. It really helped with my creativity and allowed me to express myself through a piece of art that I wasn’t familiar with and it helped me fall more in love with Videography.
TITLE: Paradise – A Deconstruction Video
MEDIA: Iphone 8 plus
SOFTWARE: Adobe Premier Pro
SPECIFICATIONS: 1:36 .mp4
CLASS: ART 211 – Art and Technology
PROFESSOR: Blanka Roundtree
SEMESTER / TERM: FA 17
INSTITUTION: University of Tampa
This was a Deconstruction video I had to do for Art and Technology. The purpose of the video was to take an idea and deconstruct it into something different. We had free reign of subject matter so I decided to use an idea of something that was really important to me: Paradise. Ever since moving to Tampa I had my own definition of paradise and what paradise truly is. For this video, I wrote the monologue about Paradise myself and used clips I took of what I believe paradise really is. This video helped me to better understand my artistic style and what I hold valuable in my art. This is a very personal piece and I think it expresses where I’m at in my life and in my art career.
